Overview

This qualification is designed for individuals employed in the construction industry, providing them with the skills, knowledge, and competency required to work in transporting loads. It is assessed in a real workplace environment by a qualified assessor who will guide and support learners throughout the process.

Mandatory Units

• Conforming to General Health, Safety, and Welfare in the Workplace
• Conforming to Productive Working Practices in the Workplace

Optional Units (Choose One)

• Preparing and operating forward tipping dumpers
• Preparing and operating rear tipping dump trucks
• Preparing and operating tractors with towed equipment
• Preparing and operating trailer-mounted concrete pumps
• Preparing and operating self-propelled bowsers
• Preparing and operating static concrete placing booms
• Preparing and operating volumetric trucks

This qualification is supported by the Construction Plant Association (CPA).

Entry Requirements

No formal qualifications or prior training are required. However, learners must be employed in a relevant role.

Progression

Upon completion, learners can progress to higher-level qualifications or supervisory and management roles. This NVQ is recognized by the industry as a valid entry qualification.

Qualification Structure

• Minimum Credits: 17
• Total Qualification Time (TQT): 170 hours
• Guided Learning Hours (GLH): 57 hours

To achieve this qualification, learners must complete two mandatory units (5 credits) and one optional unit (minimum 12 credits).

Assessment & Grading

Learners will be assessed against industry standards by a qualified assessor and must compile a Portfolio of Evidence demonstrating their competency. This qualification is not graded.
