This qualification is designed for individuals working in dry lining finishing within the construction industry. It is assessed in a real workplace environment, meaning learners must be employed in a relevant role to complete the qualification.

Qualification Overview

This NVQ enables learners to develop and demonstrate their skills, knowledge, and competence in dry lining finishing. The qualification supports the attainment of practical and transferable skills, alongside essential industry knowledge.

Assessment & Support

• Learners will be assessed against National Occupational Standards (NOS) specific to their trade.
• Assessment is conducted by a qualified and occupationally competent assessor, who will guide learners through the qualification process.

Mandatory Units

To achieve this qualification, learners must complete the following four mandatory units:

• Conforming to General Health, Safety, and Welfare in the Workplace
• Conforming to Productive Working Practices in the Workplace
• Moving, Handling, and Storing Resources in the Workplace
• Finishing Dry Lining Walls and Ceilings in the Workplace

Qualification Structure & Learning Hours

• Minimum Credit Value: 35
• Total Qualification Time (TQT): 350 hours (including independent study and practical work)
• Minimum Guided Learning Hours (GLH): 184 hours (including direct instruction and supervised assessment)

Career Progression & Industry Recognition

• This qualification can be taken as part of an apprenticeship framework in England and Wales.
• It is supported by the Finishes & Interiors Sector (FIS), ensuring industry relevance and recognition.
